2024 marks an explosive year for the interior design industry, with remarkable advancements in design and a strong wave of sustainable development shaping a vibrant and dynamic picture. To keep up with the industry’s ever-evolving market, let’s join the Vietnam Interior Association in reviewing the Top 10 Outstanding Activities of 2024.
1. SEE+ Design Fair 2024
Initiated by C.space Design Complex, SEE+ Design Fair 2024, themed “Breakthroughs,” took place from December 11 to 14, 2024. This event left a lasting impact on the design community, architects, contractors, and investors.
With professional sponsorship from the Vietnam Interior Association (VNIA) and the SACA Association, SEE+ Design Fair provided a valuable and enriching experience. The event featured in-depth expert discussions alongside real-world exhibitions of high-application solutions, emphasizing advancements in Materials – Design – Technology – Solutions.
2. Panel Discussion: “Green and Sustainable Interiors” – A New Direction for Vietnam’s Interior Industry
On December 6, 2024, at the Hanoi Museum, the 8th edition of VNIA LINK successfully hosted a discussion on “Green and Sustainable Interiors.” Organized by the Vietnam Interior Association (VNIA) in collaboration with ISN Jutec Co., Ltd., the panel aimed to promote sustainable development in the interior industry and create a platform for businesses and experts to share insights and experiences.
The event was attended by VNIA representatives, ISN-JUTEC executives, Hanoi Museum leaders, architects, designers, experts, and business professionals passionate about interior design.
3. Panel Discussion: “Vietnamese Interiors – Creativity from Design to Production”
On November 15, 2024, at the National Museum of History (25 Tong Dan, Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi), the Vietnam Interior Association collaborated with various organizations to host the panel discussion “Vietnamese Interiors – Creativity from Design to Production.”
This event was part of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, marking a significant step in advancing Vietnam’s interior industry.
The discussion provided an overview of Vietnam’s interior manufacturing industry, allowing businesses to share practical experiences, address challenges, and explore solutions to drive development within VNIA and the broader interior sector.
4. VIBE 2024 – Interior & Construction Exhibition
The VIBE 2024 Interior & Construction Exhibition was held from October 2 to 5, 2024, at the SECC Exhibition and Convention Center – 799 Nguyen Van Linh, Tan Phu, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The event brought together over 650 booths from 250 leading companies in interior, architecture, and construction, attracting over 12,000 domestic and international visitors.
VIBE 2024 served as a networking platform for architects, contractors, and businesses, while also offering insights into emerging trends in the construction industry, particularly the “Net Zero” movement.
The event featured two major conferences:
- “Sustainable Development – Moving Towards Net Zero in Construction” (co-organized with ConsMedia)
- “New Context – New Identity” (hosted by Gallery Architecture, Ago Hub, and KienViet Media)
Additionally, the SACA Connect session, themed “Breakthrough Solutions for Sustainable Building Materials in Times of Crisis,” was also held.
5. Panel Discussion: “Southeast Asian Identity in the New Design Context”
On October 2, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Interior Association collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts & Woodworking Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Construction & Building Materials Association to host the Vietnam – ASEAN Interior Forum 2024, themed “Southeast Asian Identity in the New Design Context.”
This international event, part of VIBE 2024, gathered leading designers and experts from ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
In the era of globalization and industrialization, cultural identity plays a crucial role in contemporary interior design across ASEAN. The event emphasized the importance of integrating technological advancements while preserving traditional values, thereby enhancing the regional interior industry’s global presence.
6. MEP IN INTERIOR 2024
Co-organized by the Vietnam Interior Association and C.space Design Complex, MEP IN INTERIOR 2024 included expert discussions and real-world exhibitions on Mechanical (M), Electrical (E), and Plumbing (P) systems in interior design.
Focusing on integrating MEP systems into interior design, the event aimed to enhance comfort and safety in living spaces. MEP IN INTERIOR 2024 served as a knowledge-sharing hub for experts and brands specializing in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing solutions.
7. Panel Discussion: “Interior Design in Vietnam – Scope and Value”
On August 16, 2024, at Blum Vietnam Showroom (Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi), VNIA hosted a discussion on “Interior Design in Vietnam: Scope and Value.”
This forum explored key challenges within the industry, including:
- The overlap between architecture and interior design
- Business models and relationships between designers, contractors, and suppliers
- Pricing structures for interior design services
- Professional licensing and regulations
The event also contributed scientific insights for future policy recommendations regarding interior design fees in construction projects.
8. ID.FORUM 2024
On May 18, 2024, in Hanoi, the ID.Forum event series featured expert discussions, exhibitions, and the Vietnam Interior Student Awards ceremony.
Co-organized by VNIA and the Young Vietnam Interior Design Community, the event attracted top experts from design, manufacturing, and trade sectors.
A highlight of the event was the Vietnam Interior Student Awards exhibition, which marked the first-ever participation of:
- Asia-Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA)
- Thailand Interior Designers’ Association (TIDA)
- Singapore Interior Design Society (SIDS)
- Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID)
9. VNIA Representatives at Milan Design Week 2024
At Milan Design Week 2024, themed “Materia Natura” (Natural Materials), VNIA representatives Vu Hong Cuong (Vice President) and Luu Viet Thang (Chief Secretary) explored leading international design exhibitions.
Supported by Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, ITPC, and HAWA, the Vietnam Pavilion (360m²) showcased furniture and handicrafts from 35 Vietnamese enterprises, marking a strong Vietnamese presence in Milan for the first time.
10. VNIA at the Asia-Pacific Design Conference 2024
On March 20, 2024, the Asia-Pacific Design Conference (APDC) hosted its first Roundtable Discussion at CIFF 2024, themed “Future Design: AI and Emotions in Design.”
With CIFF 2024 focused on design trends, global trade, and supply chains, the event played a crucial role in driving international collaboration and innovation in the interior industry.
