Design Miami 2024, held from December 4 to 6 under the theme “Blue Sky,” has cemented its position as one of the world’s premier design events. This gathering brings together over 45 renowned international exhibitors, ranging from prestigious brands to innovative designers, showcasing groundbreaking designs that harmoniously bridge the past and the future.

Design Miami 2024 stands out not only for its exceptional design products but also for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, a stark contrast to the often quiet and formal ambiance of traditional art fairs. The event fosters a sense of closeness, joy, and inspiration, attracting both industry professionals and art and design enthusiasts. Let’s delve into the top 5 highlights of Design Miami 2024.

1. Bottega Veneta’s Impressive Collection of Unique Pet-Shaped Loungers

One of the most striking highlights at Design Miami 2024 is the creative collaboration between Bottega Veneta and design house Zanotta. Under the creative direction of Mathieu Blazy, Bottega Veneta’s head designer, a unique collection of pet-shaped loungers has been unveiled. These designs not only accurately mimic the natural forms of pets but also infuse any space with joy and wonder.

Particularly, the two limited-edition loungers exclusive to Design Miami sold out quickly, underscoring the collection’s immense appeal and market demand.

2. Fendi’s ænigma – The Intersection of Fashion and Interiors by Lewis Kemmenoe

Fendi continues to maintain a strong presence at Design Miami, and this year, the renowned fashion house has collaborated with London-based designer Lewis Kemmenoe on a unique collection. This collection blends woodworking techniques, Fendi’s iconic logo, inlay, marquetry, and metalwork, resulting in pieces that exude both natural elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. As expected, the collection includes a signature handbag.

The collection not only merges art and functionality but also exemplifies the seamless fusion of fashion and interior design—two seemingly distinct fields that share a deep creative philosophy at Fendi.

3. Friedman Benda Celebrates Architect Javier Senosiain

Friedman Benda’s booth at Design Miami 2024 brings a breath of natural life, evoking the primal beauty of the earth. The installation is inspired by the legendary Mexican architect Javier Senosiain and features the first limited-edition furniture collection designed by him.

To highlight Senosiain’s spirit, the Mexico City-based artist duo SANGREE (René Godínez-Pozas and Carlos Lara) contributed two stone and ceramic cat sculptures inspired by pre-Columbian artifacts. These works harmonize with the palette and smooth curves characteristic of Senosiain’s design language.

The exhibition honors the intersection of art and nature while paying tribute to Mexico’s cultural heritage through a contemporary and creative lens.

4. Blunk Space Revives a Legacy

Blunk Space, an exhibition dedicated to honoring the legacy of artist JB Blunk, has recreated the unique spirit and imprint of the artist’s former home.

Inspired by this, designer Rio Kobayashi crafted recycled redwood shelves and a bench, featuring soft, natural lines that maintain a sense of order, balance, and artistic precision. The warm, light pink hue of the wood not only evokes a sense of familiarity but also imbues the pieces with a strong, natural appeal.

Kobayashi’s subtle and creative approach has won critical acclaim, earning Blunk Space the Best Curio award at Design Miami this year—a well-deserved recognition for their efforts in preserving timeless artistic and cultural values.

5. Mindy Solomon Gallery

The Mindy Solomon Gallery draws inspiration from a journey to Patagonia, presenting a design collection that reflects the natural colors of blue, gray, and green. Among the highlights are hettler.tüllmann’s animal-shaped rope chair and the distinctive hanging pieces by Frances Trombly and Jacqueline Surdell, which stand out as creative and mesmerizing focal points.

Design Miami 2024 transcends the boundaries of a typical annual design event, transforming into a vibrant and creative art festival. Every corner, every piece ignites the flames of inspiration and innovation. The event is not just a showcase of cutting-edge designs but also a space for connection, where designers, artists, and enthusiasts from around the world can meet, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. Design Miami 2024 offers a golden opportunity to admire the finest collections and immerse oneself in the spirit of creativity, explore new trends, and experience the diversity and richness of global design culture. Through each exhibit and piece, the event opens new horizons for development and interaction in the realms of art and design.
