The Trâu armchair embraces harmony and resonance, standing confidently alongside paintings or installation artworks without losing its presence or character

TRÂU armchair – Designed by HO studio primarily for performance-oriented artistic spaces, this chair embraces harmony and aesthetic coherence, while confidently standing alongside works of fine art or installation. With a bold sculptural form, TRÂU maintains visual balance within the overall spatial composition, yet asserts its distinct identity through materiality and geometric language.

This also embodies HO studio’s design manifesto: that every object has the potential to become a “sculptural focal point” in the context of contemporary architectural and artistic spaces.

HO Studio’s original concept was the image of the chair placed beside a lacquer painting by artist Thành Chương.

In its original concept, HO Studio envisioned the chair placed next to a lacquer painting by artist Thành Chương. Perhaps inspired by this, the angled cuts creating layered planes and the distinctive single curves emerged in the first sketch. The name TRÂU was then chosen.

Formed from a 5mm-thick stainless steel sheet, carefully calculated bends along continuous, uninterrupted edges shaped the main form of the product. The TRÂU armchair is the latest design by HO Studio for BOONG.

Accompanying interior designers and performance artists, this chair serves as a subtle yet meaningful contribution to enhance the value of their artistic works.

TRÂU armchair with a polished mirror-finish 304 stainless steel exterior

Every design carries a soul, but it only truly speaks when placed in the right context. With its polished mirror-finish 304 stainless steel exterior, the TRÂU armchair is already a statement of strength and simplicity. Yet when warm light touches the cold steel surface, a miracle happens — the metal transforms into a storyteller through light.

Each angle, each intensity of light creates a new appearance…

…sometimes sharp and radiant, other times gentle and mysterious, like the sunset reflecting on a river of steel.

Streaks of light glide and melt into warm hues, reflecting the surrounding space. Each angle, each intensity of light creates a new appearance – sometimes sharp and radiant, other times soft and mystical, like the sunset reflecting on a river of steel.

A design by HO studio, originally born from lines and materials, now gains a new dimension – light. The TRÂU armchair is no longer a static object but becomes vibrant and ever-changing with every perspective.
